OGC owns nearly 2000 Kms of pipeline along which runs a state of the art Fibre Optic Cable (FOC) telecommunication network supporting its SCADA system. The challenge was to provide Voice and Data Services to all corporate offices utilizing any excess bandwidth available over the SCADA Telecom Network and physically connect all the regional offices to the FOC Telecom Network. Today all regional offices are connected to the head office over OGC owned FOC telecom infrastructure.

OGC was the first company in the field of Oil & Gas in Oman to implement a full fledged IP telephony solution which enabled it to cut down telecom costs dramatically and increased the overall corporate productivity and efficiency. There was a need to create a strong core to this ever growing network to ensure business continuity; hence OGC now operates over a robust and reliable network.

The IT security infrastructure remains continually monitored with controls and capabilities continually reviewed and improved through implementation of essential systems and procedures. OGC’s telecommunications systems and wide area network play a vital role in supporting the company’s business processes such as telephony, messaging, data networks and SCADA systems support for pipeline operations that ultimately allow for safe and efficient gas delivery to customers.
