One of the main events of Maintenance and Operations during the year 2008 was to accomplish all periodic inspection operations and precautionary maintenance on all Gas Supply Stations, Pressure Limiting Stations and pipe lines according to the maintenance plan.

OGC transported a total of 7.9 Billion Cubic Meters (BCM) of natural gas to different consumers during 2008 period. The daily average was in the region of 21.6 Million cubic meters which is an increase of 6.9% compared to last year. Gas import from Dolphin Energy of UAE started by October 2008 after commissioning Buraimi compressor station.

More frequent gas sampling checks were started during the year to ensure the gas delivered to different consumers are as per the specification mentioned in the operating service agreements.

Major permanent repairs recommended by engineering consultants were completed at locations where pipelines are damaged during adverse climatic conditions during 2007.

Several service and maintenance contracts were set up during the year to ensure timely vendor support and expertise available in Oman for maintaining and un-interrupted gas supply to customers.

To enhance the reliability of Gas Supply Stations, contracts for checking all field instrument/electrical cables and modification to instrument gas back up system were completed.

The year 2008 was continued with full of great achievements for the company. The final inspection and operations support completed for projects  for supplying gas to Sohar Aluminium Smelter, Sharq Sohar Steel Rolling Mills , Aromatics Oman, Sohar Aluminium Port Facilities, SMN Barka, and Octal Salalah and the usage of gas have started gradually.
